What is a DENIER?
A DENIER is the unit of measurement for the thickness of the thread used to make stockings and pantyhose.
The lower the DENIER number (8, 10, 15, 20, etc.), the thinner and more sheer the stocking or tights are. On the flip side, the higher the number (40, 70, etc.), the thicker the fabric, and the skin is less visible.
On the other hand, there are opaque microfiber pantyhose and tights, in 50 and 100 den, where your skin is hardly visible. It’s common to wear them in autumn and winter.
Pantyhose and tights with a low DEN value are usually used for the spring-summer season. The rest can be worn all year round—for example for events and ceremonies—because their thin look makes them look more elegant.
